Upon earning his M.D. from Duke University, School of Medicine in 1970, Dr. Gill served a one-year internship at Duke Hospital Medical
Center in Durham. He then entered the United States Army and served as a General Medical Officer at Ireland Army Hospital at Fort Knox,
Kentucky from 1971 to 1973.
Following his discharge from the military, Dr. Gill completed his residency
at the University of California San Francisco's Department of General
Surgery and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This completed, he would
traverse the continent, ending up in Charlotte, N.C., joining Miller Orthopaedic
Clinic in 1977. He would remain with the practice for 25 years, establishing
himself as a highly respected and skilled orthopaedic surgeon.
While capable of treating orthopaedic needs relating to any part of
the human anatomy, Dr. Gill has focused the majority of his attention
from the waist to the feet. His specialty areas are the knee and the feet.
He has performed more than 3,000 surgical procedures on the knee, and
over 1,500 on the hip.
During his career, Dr. Gill has demonstrated an incredible thirst for professional development.

He has actively participated in varied academic
activities over the years serving as a guest lecturer, Board Examiner for
upcoming physicians, written and/or edited over 15 articles for orthopaedic
journals, and participated as an active member in nearly a dozen different
Orthopaedic Societies and Associations.
He has also demonstrated a care for the community. He developed an assessment
form used at a screening clinic that was conducted during the Special
Olympics in Durham, NC in 1999.
Today, an exciting new challenge is present. Gill Orthopaedic Clinic
is a dream-come-true for Dr. Gill, and his plans call for a focus on three
basic goals. The first is to blend his passion for orthopaedic medicine
with the delivery of patient care that is the most compassionate and personalized
possible. The second is to utilize the most advanced technology on the
market like the UniSpacer, in his treatment process. Finally, he wants
to grow his practice by adding other orthopaedic surgeons who share his
passion for the delivery of personalized patient care.
Dr. Gill resides in Charlotte with his wife, Robin C. Gill, and their
eight children.
